[COOP] Connection issues

Wartales' multiplayer is Peer 2 Peer based, Network related issue such as Desync, lag spikes, lobby creation etc, are more than likely an issue on the host / client side.
I'd recommend playing on a stable internet connection and checking your Router NAT settings, firewall, anti virus etc.

Trying to load a coop game and it won't load. There is an error message that says "Could not open a new lobby, please try again later".

Archer W.Hey y'all, I'm also getting this error every time I try to start a coop lobby. I am connected to the internet and I have also re-verified the game files in steam with no luck (error still pops up).

Buddie MergedI had something similar but after a few tries and waiting about 40 seconds I was able to start a "lobby" but my friend couldn't join with me. We tried several times and each time he received the invite but when he clicked on it the game would load him into the title screen but never into the lobby.

Alexandre MergedHi team! Same problem here, unable to join an online coop game since today, infinite loading screen for the guest joining. It used to work until yesterday.
We tried reinstalling the game, checked files and saves, but the problem stays the same. No problem when playing solo game, or when I'm the host
But coop game -> infinite loading screen for the guest every time, while the host loads as expected. We tried to create a new coop game, same result.

Christian Daugaard Mergedsimilar issue here, trying several times a week for months, nomatter if its a new map, our main save, me or my friend creating, the "partner" meaning the one being invited, gets to the loading screen is just sitting there with full music etc. forever, recently after a loading screen of over 5 min at my friend trying pretty much everything, going into menus, alt tabbing to windows several times, doing moves in game etc, suddenly my game loaded, we no not yet know if its just "fixed" or if something in the random things he did is the key, nonetheless this should really not be necessary, so please fix it because we love the game! :)

KSSame here...I cannot make any multiplay seesion or load multiplay file , I can just make solo play. Please fix it... please.. I like this game...

Chris MergedMy experience matches Buddie from 11 Jan.
I load our co-op save and clicking invite sends through Steam as expected. On my partners end they accept the invite and;
- If they have not launched the game, the game launches and they land on the title screen
- If the game is already launched they stay on the title screen
No other notifications/errors pop up.
We have also attempted to make a fresh co-op game which has not worked.
First occurring for us on February 27. -

Sithicus MergedMy Brother and I have tried taking turns hosting a new Co-Op game from scratch. We can both enter the character customization screen for the initial party, but after launching the game, whoever the non-host is gets stuck in the "Loading" Screen indefinitely. We have tried saving the game after the host loads in to the world map in Tiltren and then closing and relaunching the game then loading the save file freshly and inviting the other player then, but the same Loading screen loop occurs. The save file included is the "test2" save that had started as a co-op game.

In the discord I was looking for a person to play co-op, in the end I found ...
We played for an hour and a half, everything was more or less, and then it froze. Since then, one of us cannot enter the game, at the loading stage, the one who 2 does not load.
That is, everything is OK with the host, the game is loading, but the one who connects has a loading screen and no further effect. Moreover, the host in the game, even in the chat, writes "(nickname) connected to the game", at this moment the second person's loading screen went from the "connection" stage to the "loading" stage.
Then some time passes, and the host writes in the chat "(nickname) disconnected from the game", the second player does not stop loading the screen. Moreover, if you close the game with alt + f4, then the game does not close in the incentive and still works. I have to close steam via task manager...
I have tried to describe the situation in as much detail as possible. Hope it helps to solve the problem -

Philip Wyskiel MergedWhenever I started a new COOP game with friends, I would be in the loading screen, and then when the game loads up, the in-game UI shows up on the screen, but the the loading screen image stays on the screen when I loaded in. I hear everything in-game, and my friends are loaded in normally and able to play regularly, but the loading screen stays over my actual game so all I can do is restart my game from the main menu and then it goes away. This only happens when I initially start up a new game with friends.

Peryite MergedStill currently having this issue. Host can't load into the game properly. They can't move or interact with any pop ups, but can make camp and pause by randomly clicking around. Others that joined the host are having no issues and can play normally. Issue just recently arrived with the new updates, previous patches work fine.

mojo MergedMy team sees this several times a night in our coop game. We all experience it at the same time, it does not recover but we can save, go back to the main screen and jump back into multiplayer. ill see about getting the save file and any other info possible.

Dylan MergedIn my co-op game we started to have this error as well. This also started happening to us only after we recruited mole-rats and they reproduced. Then it has been happening fairly consistently upon resting. Would be willing to upload our save file and dxdiag if you would like.

Juan MergedI have the same problem with my friend, we downloaded the game just a week ago and played once, then after a couple days we started it up again and it gets stuck on the loading screen, and we already tried a lot of solution, restarting, installing again, updating drivers, playing the game as admin and some more.
