Abbot Theocene not leaving party and unattackable

Abbot Theocene can't be attacked after the bridge quest. If you do attack him, he's seens as a party member (but marked as an enemy), however, killing him results in a forced restart/load screen.

Second, after returning the Abbot he will still stay with your party. This prevents you from visiting certain places. I had him stationed at the drying rack throughout the entire quest but he was at the camp side before I finished the quest at the bridge.

If it could be left at the town travel post it would be solved but it gives an error and the application closes

Same problem on Nintendo switch. Frustrating because while I really like the game, the long load times (mainly exacerbated by the screen blanking out after loading battles or towns requiring a reload every 15 minutes or so) made me sure I was gonna finish one full play through. Don’t have the heart to restart in its current form and sadly am stuck due to this bug (tried attacking at the bridge, he was identified as a party member so couldn’t. Reloaded to prior to the battle and accepted reward, escorted him to the abbot and he is now both at the abbot and able to talk to him and a member of my party. Therefore cannot enter LaHearts castle to finish the region)

Hi there.

Playing on Xbox gamepass, I have the exact same issue.
After his quest, abbée duplicated himself and stuck in my party, apparently.
Softlocking me in that region. I can continue elsewhere, but not sure I should…

It just happened again on a fresh new save !
I started in Arthes, went straight for that quest, after the last talk I end up with a clone of the Abbot in my party !
Whether I kill him or not, going to end the quest doesn’t solve the issue. I really don’t see what could cause it !

Same finished the mission escorted him back to the abbey and he duplicated and is now stuck in my party. Should find a way to either dismiss him or leave him at a trade post. Was having a blast playing this game untill this bug occurred now I can't leave the region and he's using up resources.

Hasn’t the quest been reworked since ?
It went differently this time, for me. ( I had to «manually» destroy the bridge. )
Well, in any case, third try for me, and I did not have the bug this time ! Everything worked smoothly !

I ran into this as well on Xbox. After I led him back to the Abbey he duplicated and stuck in my party and is preventing me from enter LeHearts castle.

Playing on Xbox gamepass here. Same issue, duplicate abbot and I didn't notice until my next rest so no previous saves to reload. Is there any solution or update on this?

Abbot is both in my party and at the abbey, with the quest completed.
Not sure if it matters, but I fixed the bridge before returning to the abbey.
His presence prevents me from completing the region.
Without a fix, I see no reason to continue playing.

What is the point of playing the game if Abbott soft locks the game. I was obsessed with this game until this happened. Please fix this bug so I can continue playing

Gamebreaking bug. Need option to dismiss him from group. No interest in continuing playing and told friends hold off on purchasing/playing until this bug is resolved.

After completing his quest the Abbot remains in your camp, even though he can be seen back in the abbey. This prevents the party from entering the other castle to complete a scenario quest.

108 hours in and now I’m stuck with the same issue on xbox. For a short time i also had to pay my group every single rest as well. Staying at an inn fixed that issue. Literally broken my game. Hearing nothing from. The devs either, come on!

Same here, on Xbox GamePass. I’m locked in Arthes because there’s no way to dismiss the Abbott from my party and he blocks me from entering the castle. Super disappointed, I’ve been playing this game nonstop and now feel like I wasted too many hours on it.

I'm having the exact same Issue on Xbox. The complete lack of response from the Devs on this issue after all this time is concerning. They have a game breaking bug that is souring everyone's experience and they couldn't be bothered to update their game or even provide an apology and timeline for a fix. Disgraceful.

I'm playing the Xbox version. After completing the abbot's quest, he does not disappear from the group. And he is very disturbing. I also can't get into the castle by quest. I've already completed the mission. I fought with the guards, went to the abbey, talked to him. But he doesn't disappear from the group. It seemed to hang there.

I Have the same bug, playing on Switch.
The last patch did not resolve it.
Before accepting him I tried to attack him at the bridge, which was causing game over -> he had the "!" Over his head in combat meaning you have toi protect him.
So I keep him in the crew, but he is eating for free and prevent me from entering Laheart Castle.

Same issue, completed the final battle against Laheart and unable to enter the castle due to the Abbot. Unable to remove him from the party by any means. Therefore, I’m stuck with him and unable to complete the region. Please assist.

I am having the same issue on Xbox. Finished his quests and returned him to the abbey where he gave me a reward but he refuses to leave the party. I tried loading an earlier save and killing him on the bridge instead but that ends the game for me.

Very frustrating as I cannot access some other quests due to him being present.

Xbox cloud here. Same issue. Game ends when I try to kill him, can't leave him at a trading post and he won't leave the party. Can't complete Arthes campaign like this.

Same issue on Xbox series X. Abbot is in my party after completing his quest. I got the rewards and progress for it but he's still in my party. He's also in the Abby. I can't get him to leave, leave him at trading post or anything. This results in me not being able to do one of the other quests in the region as he makes me leave the castle as soon as we enter it. Saw multiple posts on reddit about this.

I cannot access the puzzle of the Abbey of Saint Eleor, since I arrived at the map I have not been able to access it. I didn't realize it because I thought it was normal and to make matters worse, now I have Abbot as a freeloader and he won't let me complete the map.

The truth is that there are many bugs like these that made me go back and activate free saving.

The game is good although it makes the same mistake as Bannelord, that you don't enjoy such a satisfying personal immersion.

You should learn from Outward.

Same issue on Xbox Series X thru gamepass. Quest went well until I had to drop him off at the Abbot. A clone of him stayed in the party after delivering him to the Abbot and now I cant complete the quest for Leheart. Maybe its some sort of issue when you go to pick him up after the bridge caravan fight? Like the game thinks theres 2 of him when you pick him up? Or the option for him to be attacked gives your game 2 versions of him. So if you escort him the game gives you both copies instead?

“ When doing Abbot Theocene's quest, save before you begin. There is a big chance you will have him stuck in your party forever.

When you get to the point of dismantling the unstable bridge, Save before the bridge. There will be two intractables for the bridge. One loads the intact version and one loads the destroyed version.

If you interact and the bridge automatically destroys, reload. So long as you have the correct bridge the quest will resolve correctly. The intact and destroyed versions of the bridge are overlaid for some reason, and it's possible to skip a small section and bug the entire quest. You will not be able to kill the Abbot, or complete his quest.”

The specifics: when you drop off Theo at the abbey he is stuck in your party forever, you can not enter the castle, the right side of the broken bridge is bugged as well and will lock your party at it's entrance after leaving the bridge. He can not interact with any profession and will crash your game. He can not be killed during the quest, it will auto fail you. I am shocked this isn't something you're able to confirm on your end, it's been affecting players for months. I do not have a specific save file other than the many files with Theo stuck in the party. Some players report resting at any point in the quest line will lock you into the bug. This is the type of bug that makes the game not worth playing even after finding a tedious workaround for saves being deleted. Depressing, good luck.
